Maybe you would like to volunteer, but you don't know how to get started.
There are lots different things a volunteer for Pet Adoption League, Inc. can do to help. Most of the activities don't even involve handling the animals we care for. If you think you can spare a few hours a month, or even every 2 months, here's a list of things we need volunteers to do. Please indicate the activities you would be willing to help out with:

q               Bake for bake sales (held once or twice per month)

q               Help out at bake sales (setting up, breaking down, etc.) 

q               Organize newsletter & fund drive mailings 4-6 times per year (involves collating, stapling & labeling)

q               Set up &/or maintain our web page on the Internet

q               Take our animals to the vet in Hackettstown for shots, checkups, & emergencies (appointments can be made to fit your schedule)

q               Help out at adoption days on Saturdays &/or Sundays (adoptions are held for 3 hours)
 (walk & socialize the dogs, interview prospective adopters, comfort the cats, set up & break down, etc)

**even if you can only spare 1 hour to help us set up or break down, we need your help!**

q               Pick up & drive animals to & from adoption days in your own vehicle

q               Drive our van to & from adoption days

q               Clean/disinfect dog/cat crates

q               Clean out the inside of the PAL van periodically

q               Contact local newspapers & radio stations to advertise PAL events

q               Solicit donations for our Tricky Tray (held in September of each year)

q               Distribute & collect donation jars around the Hackettstown area

q               Help organize, set up, and support our various Annual Fundraisers - Pet Photo Contest (Summer), Tree of Lights (December), Winter Solstice Pet Photos (December), sell raffle tickets (Spring), Yard Sale (April), Tricky Tray (September), etc

q               Administrative Support (making copies, printing, running errands, etc)

q               Be a foster home for     dog or     cat 

·         you can foster for whatever time period you are comfortable with (week, month, indefinite) 

·         animals will have all their shots & be spayed/neutered if they are over 6 months old 

·         we will reimburse you for food and emergency vet care 

·         pets need to make it to at least 2 adoptions per month 

·         you provide the love & attention our pets deserve

q               Return telephone calls made to the PAL phone line (we do this on a bi-weekly rotation)

q               Other (maybe you have some ideas of your own?)
